Consumption of adequate amounts of safe food is vital to survive life and strengthening good health.

Food borne illness are generally infectious or toxic in nature and often invisible to naked eye, caused by microbes like bacteria, viruses, parasites or trace chemical materials entering the body through contaminated food or water.

Food safety has a complex role in ensuring that food remain safe at every stage of the food chain- from production to harvest, processing, storing, distribution, all the way to preparation and consumption.

The fourth World Food Safety Day (WFSD) will be celebrated on 7 June 2022 to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agricultural production, market access, tourism and sustainable development.
